About Armstrong Luty Solicitors
Nicholas Luty and Andrew Armstrong are highly experienced personal injury lawyers who have each been practising in the UK for over 35 years, almost exclusively in the field of personal injury and clinical negligence litigation on behalf of claimants.
Where many of their contemporaries have retired or moved to become non-practising senior managers in larger city firms, Andrew and Nick remain hands-on for their clients whilst heading up the firm. The level of experience and expertise they combine is exceptional between two individuals in this field, certainly in a small provincial town.
Andrew established the practice originally under the name of Armstrongs in 1995. The name was subsequently changed to Armstrong Luty and was based at Broughton Hall near Skipton.
In March 1998 the practice moved to town centre premises in Skipton with a literary claim to fame. Formerly a terraced house, 24 Otley Street was once the home of Rudyard Kipling’s grandfather. The esteemed author himself lived in the house as a boy during his school holidays in the 1840s and 1850s. The office premises are now known as Kipling House and retain many original features, including a well in the garden.
Meet The Team
Andrew Armstrong LLB – Partner
Andrew went to school in Bradford and Leeds, graduating in law from Liverpool University as a qualified solicitor in 1978. He was head of litigation at Lumb & Kenningham and later Kenningham Underwood Armstrong. He established Amstrong Solicitors in 1995 and was joined in partnership by Nicholas Luty in 1996.
An expert in personal injury and clinical negligence since 1978, he was the first Bradford solicitor to be appointed to the Law Society’s specialist Personal Injury Panel in 1993.
Away from the office Andrew fills his time with soccer, tennis and table tennis, theatre (amateur and professional), hillwalking with or without dogs, dining out and acting as a part-time roadie for his pop musician daughter.
Nicholas Luty LLB – Partner
Known as Nick to colleagues, friends and family, Nicholas spent five years at Reads Solicitors in Bradford before moving to Lumb & Kenningham, which subsequently became Kenningham Underwood Armstrong, for eleven years. It was here that Nick first began working with Andrew and the two formed their friendship and solid working relationship.
In 1996 Nick joined Andrew in Partnership at his new Skipton practice as a Specialist Claimant Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence solicitor. He was appointed to the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and is a member of APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).
Away from the office Nick would like to say he enjoys sky-diving, however, he’s not that brave, so settles instead for watching football and knocking around with the family Labradors. He is however, a practising blackbelt Jujitsu instructor and trains at the gym three or four times a week in a valiant attempt to keep his weight down whilst continuing to enjoy dining out. He is married with two grown-up daughters.
